Prepare to Play

An effective and efficient cleaning process is an important foundation for enjoyable anal and strap-on play. It removes any worry from your

mind that things could get messy and allows you to fully relax and enjoy the experience. If you’re clean, then your play partner will also enjoy the experience so much more as well!

The below cleaning advice is not intended as medical advice, but is instead based on what’s worked for people who have been playing regularly over a +20 year period. Your own experience and preferences may well be different, and finding the process that is best for you might take some time and investigation, but be patient – it’s well worth the effort.

CLEANING YOUR BUM FOR ANAL PLAY!

By Goddess Cleo and Mausu.

HOW CLEAN IS CLEAN?

How clean you actually need to be depends on a number of factors.  For example:

• the personal views of yourself and your partner
• the size of the object/objects that will be inserted
• how fast/deep will it be going in (and out)
• when, and for how long, you want to play

Most of this should probably be common sense…  There’s no point disappearing into the bathroom for 3 hours of preparation if your partner just wants to use something small around the entrance.  And similarly, a quick wash around the exterior and entrance with just a finger isn’t going to keep things clean for rectal penetration, or a full-on pounding with a big toy, over several hours.

DIET

Prior to initiating the physical cleaning process, you can make things easier or harder for yourself directly depending on what you eat in the lead up to your play date.  In general you should be eating lightly, avoiding processed and convenience foods, and having lots of veg and fruit.  And you should definitely try to avoid having a curry the night before!

METHODS OF CLEANING (from least to most intensive)

There are actually two main types of cleaning – there’s a quickie type clean that cleans only the rectum.  The full clean goes way deeper into the colon, and takes much longer.  There’s a really good diagram that explains the difference HERE.

Now to explain the main methods of cleaning, from quickie to full clean…

1. Washing

The rectum itself only stores fecal matter temporarily (it stays in the colon beforehand), so if you are healthy with a good diet then you should be clean after having a regular bowel movement. However as a very minimum, a good externalwash with warm water and soap and/or baby wipes is recommended before any anal play – even just external stimulation. This can be extended to washing slightly inside the anus with a soapy finger, remembering of course to clean up very thoroughly afterwards or to use a latex glove.

In theory this ought to be enough for brief, gentle and shallow penetration too, but for anything more a more thorough approach is recommended. This is especially true if penetration past the rectum and into the colon (past the “second sphincter”) is on the cards.

2. Douching

A simple anal douche can be used to squirt water into the rectum for cleaning purposes.

Just fill the device with plain lukewarm water (not soapy), lubricate the tip and gently insert into the bum/external sphincter. Then gradually squeeze the bulb so that water enters the rectum, to keep the water in, keep the bulb squeezed while you pull it out – so that you don’t draw any water back into it. Wait a few minutes or until you feel the need to “go”, expel the water into the toilet and repeat as necessary until it all comes out completely clear.  If you can hold two or three bulb-fulls at a time, you will have a more thorough ‘cleaning’.

It’s also recommended to do this 10-15 minutes before playing, allowing time for any potential trapped water to come out naturally rather than in the middle of your fun.

And of course, wash the douche before and after using it, and yourself when you’ve finished.

3. Enema

For deeper cleaning into the colon, a douche doesn’t really contain enough water and so an enema bag is an alternative.

There are several types to choose from, but all share the same basics in that they have a bag to contain liquid, something to hook it up with, and a tube/nozzle that will connect to the bag at one end, and slide into you at the other. There should also be some form of clamp to control the flow of water.

The process is essentially the same as douching, but usually lying down and using the clamp to allow the water to pass into you. Take as much water as you feel comfortable with, and then clamp again to stop it. Try to hold the water inside for a while before releasing, but otherwise following exactly the same process as douching – repeat until the water comes out clean.  Three or four times is usually sufficient.

If you take water deeper inside you like this, there’s a much higher probability that it will get temporarily “trapped” in the colon and not come out immediately. Make sure you expel everything before starting to play… It is recommended you wait at least 30 minutes to make sure there are no unpleasant surprises or mid-thrusting explosions.

As ever, wash thoroughly afterwards.

4. Laxatives

A chemical laxative is intended to treat constipation or empty the bowels before an x-ray. They can also prove to be a quick and effective alternative to douching or enemas.  In the UK, Micralax is available online or without a prescription, and is very effective.  You can also pick some up at any chemist.

They will include instructions, but usually you would lie on your side, twist off the laxative cap and squeeze the contents (usually only a few millilitres) into your back passage. As with the douche, you keep squeezing while you remove the laxative tube and then just lie there and wait for it to work. Within about 5-15 minutes you’ll feel the need to go to the loo as the laxative draws water into the lower bowels. Some people find they don’t need to lie down, but that is what is usually recommended.

Then you can check that you’re clean and wash up as usual.

5. Shower hose attachment

The same principles as douching and enemas apply here, but a shower attachment allows for even deeper cleaning and is probably more practical than an enema bag for frequent use.

A shower attachment allows water to travel from the plumbing system directly into your body, so there are two very important considerations – water pressure and temperature. Unless you can be sure you have full control of both then this option isn’t at all recommended.

But if you can control the pressure and heat, this option can be used like a douche (rinse and repeat) or allow the water to flow in deeper and hold it like an enema. Take a few deep ones first and hold them for a while, followed by the rinse/repeat until you’re perfectly comfortable that you’re clean. Then wait to check for any trapped water, clean all the equipment and have a quick shower and then you’re ready to go.

EXTENDING THE “CLEAN PERIOD”

All of the above cleaning methods will have a limited duration determined by things like your metabolism and of course when you last ate. Should you have the need or desire, there are two main methods of making this period last as long as possible.

1. Anti-diarrhoea medicine

Most anti-diarrhoea medicines contain an ingredient called Loperamide which works to calm and slow down the digestive system. This can in theory prolong the duration of cleanliness.

2. Fasting – “What doesn’t go in, can’t come out!”

If you need to ensure that you’re as clean as you possibly can be, for as long as you can, then the preferred approach is a period of fasting followed by a thorough session with a shower hose attachment.

The human digestive period varies between individuals and can be from anywhere between 24-72 hours depending on the make-up and size of the meal. If you generally begin to fast at least 36 hours ahead of when you intend to clean – for example, if you intend to clean at 10am on Saturday then you would stop eating after my dinner on Thursday night. On the Friday you would simply limit yourself to a completely liquid diet only… juice, water etc

This method has the potential to give you the greatest confidence and allowed you to indulge in Strap On play over periods of 7+ hours with no worries that you wouldn’t be completely clean.

The use of medicines and fasting could be considered extreme and if you are in any doubt about your health, definitely seek medical advice beforehand.
